
Yesterday, San Ramon became the backdrop for a harrowing incident as a 17-year-old boy was found shot on Talavera Drive. The San Ramon Police Department reported that they received a call around 6:18 PM, after which emergency responders arrived to discover the juvenile with a gunshot wound to the upper shoulder. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital, treated, and released.
Investigative efforts led by the San Ramon Police swiftly resulted in the identification of 40-year-old Xiaojie Zhang from Union City as the prime suspect in this attempted homicide. An arrest was made at Zhang’s residence on the strength of a $1 million Ramey Warrant, and Zhang was charged and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility. In their statement, the police emphasized that the two individuals involved were familiar with each other, though the specifics of their relationship remain undisclosed at this juncture.
Continuing the inquiry into the circumstances of the shooting, detectives proceeded with a search of Zhang's home. There, they found two firearms. The San Ramon Police have noted that this investigation is active and ongoing, giving reassurance that there is no ongoing threat to the local community.
