The Sheraton Boston Hotel has tapped into the cherished bedtime routines of countless families with the introduction of its "Goodnight Moon Suite," a room specially designed to capture the essence of the classic children's picture book "Goodnight Moon" by Margaret Wise Brown. This unique offering at the Back Bay hotel allows guests, small and tall alike, to literally step into the great green room, replete with its whimsical details, as they prepare to quickly drift off into slumberland.
During a Marriott International brand marketing interview, Caroline Godden shared that the room is meant to evoke a "sense of magic" for children. She said, "For kids who visit the room, there is an immediate sense of magic when you walk in the door because it is top to bottom, completely a reinvention of the book." Meanwhile, adults can bask in a sense of nostalgia as they witness their childhood memories brought to life in vivid detail. The room's decor spotlights all the familiar sights from Clement Hurd's original illustrations, including a rocking chair that, upon answering a vintage telephone beside it, plays the words "Goodnight Moon," as reported by WHDH News.
Available for booking through the end of February, the suite accommodates up to two adults and two children. According to the Boston Globe, pricing is set at $789 per night, before taxes and fees, and reservations opened on November 3. The room configuration features a queen bed within the iconic "great green" environment and a separate bedroom with a king bed. But it's not just a place to lay one's head — guests will find themselves surrounded by a selection of amenities designed to enhance the immersive experience.
Erica Roney, a Marriott spokesperson, noted that each suite booking includes a package of perks: four tickets to View Boston at the Prudential Center, an official bunny plush, themed cookies, and instant oatmeal mix dubbed "goodnight mush," a play on one of the book's famous phrases. To add to the comfort, the hotel also offers guests a $150 daily food and beverage credit for on-site dining. For parents aiming to ensure a memorable experience for their little ones or to relive a slice of their own childhood, the "Goodnight Moon Suite" at the Sheraton Boston may just be the perfect backdrop to catch some z's and to snap a few pictures that will last a lifetime.
