Residents in Dakota County have the opportunity to spread holiday cheer to those serving their country this season. The Robert Trail Library in Rosemount is opening its doors on Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 3–6 p.m. for a Holiday Card Workshop, as reported by the county's official website. Community members are invited to stop by and create or sign pre-made cards, which will then be sent to local veterans and active-duty troops.
The library, providing all the necessary materials, encourages folks to show their appreciation for servicemen and women in a personal, heartfelt way. While not required, pre-registration for this event is open to people of all ages who want to dedicate a moment of their time to thank those in uniform. Coming after work or school might be just the right time for locals to pop in and craft a message of support, even with their hands full of the day's baggage.
In the spirit of the holidays, the event promises more than just a chance to write a few lines. There will be treats, hot drinks, and holiday music on-site to lift spirits and foster a sense of community. According to Dakota County's announcement, this workshop also provides an excellent opportunity for residents to mingle and connect, all while contributing to a noble cause.
Those interested in learning more or getting involved in other community service can visit the Dakota County Volunteer page. As the workshop unfolds, the sight of families and individuals gathered around, pens in hand and hearts open, will be just one of those small acts that, in their own way, reflect the collective character of a community, building connections not just among themselves, but with the men and women they're reaching out to across the globe.
