
A months-long investigation by the Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) has resulted in multiple arrests connected to cocaine trafficking and illegal firearm possession. The operation focused on an apartment in the 200 block of Orange Street, identified as a location for crack-cocaine distribution. Following extensive surveillance, detectives obtained a search warrant leading to the arrests.
According to the Springfield Police Department, among those taken into custody was 41-year-old Springfield resident Yared Rios, who faces charges including cocaine trafficking, possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug, and several firearm violations. Other suspects, including Santana, Anderson, Key, and 19-year-old Taveon Awosika, were also charged with drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The investigation revealed a network of individuals involved in narcotics and firearm offenses, with some suspects also facing additional warrants for unrelated cases.
