The Department is actively bringing in new applicants to quickly fill these roles, having amassed 125 applications since October. Meanwhile, if working amidst the elements is more aligned with your speed, the County Highway Department is in need to rapidly hire five street maintenance workers. These positions range from pouring concrete in the summer to plowing snow in the winter, all integral to maintaining the County's infrastructure.
For those interested in the highway maintenance roles, "We prefer candidates have a minimum of a Class B CDL (commercial driver’s license), but we will train new hires to obtain a CDL if they do not have one,” Ted Dunkmann, the Highway Superintendent, told St. Charles County's official announcement. Previous construction experience, while valued, is not a strict requirement, with training provided to those willing to learn on the job.
