In a recent step to usher in new athletic opportunities for youth, St. Charles Parish has secured a charter for its very own Little League, a development that's poised to bring the beloved American pastime of baseball and softball to eager children in the region. St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation has officially joined the Little League community, aiming to engage both boys and girls aged nine to 12 from across St. Charles and St. John Parishes, according to the St. Charles Parish.
Registration for those wanting to try out will start on December 8, and those running up against the clock can still get their names down during a late registration period that spans December 20 to 21, following the standard signup window, giving parents and guardians ample time to sign their children up for a shot at the diamond. St. Charles Parks and Recreation Director Duane Foret expressed his enthusiasm about the league, saying, "We are excited to bring this new Little League opportunity to the River Parishes," noting the community-building prospects such a program might foster between St. Charles and St. John Parish families, as stated on the St. Charles Parish.
Official tryout dates for the Little League will be announced after registration closes, with all evaluations set to take place at West Bank Bridge Park in Luling, giving young athletes a chance to showcase their skills.
