Five officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department were recognized for their work in handling mental health and behavioral crisis situations. The department announced in a social media post that the officers received the "Outstanding CIT Officer of 2025" award at this year’s Annual CIT Awards Banquet.

The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program helps police handle situations involving people with mental health or behavioral issues. It trains officers to safely calm tense situations while respecting everyone involved.
The honored SLMPD officers demonstrate how training in mental health and crisis response can help officers handle complex situations safely.
