St. Louis Park residents looking to cut down on their water and energy usage have a new incentive to update their appliances. The city is offering rebates for certain water-efficient and energy-efficient home products. According to an announcement from the city, those who opt for Energy Star-certified washing machines and dishwashers, as well as WaterSense-labeled toilets and irrigation components, could get a decent chunk of change back in their pockets—up to $300 to be exact.

The city has teamed up with the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services and the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment to make the rebates available. Eligible St. Louis Park residents can receive up to $200 for installing a WaterSense-certified toilet. For the residents' yards, up to $250 is up for grabs for both a WaterSense irrigation controller and irrigation spray sprinkler bodies. And when it's time to do the laundry or dishes, up to $300 can be saved with a new Energy Star washing machine and dishwasher. One little caveat: rebates will take the form of a credit on your city utility bill, so don't expect a check in the mail.

To be eligible for these rebates, there are a few boxes to tick. First off, you must be living in St. Louis Park and directly receive a utility bill from the city, as the official city bulletin details. Your purchase should be dated after July 1, 2024. If you're building a new home or developing a new property, unfortunately, these rebates won't apply to you. Rebate submissions need to include a photo of the box with the relevant logo, a copy of the purchase receipt, and the first and last name of the individual applying, along with their address.

Keep in mind that while the rebates cover the cost of purchasing these water-saving and energy-efficient items, you'll still need to handle the installation and any related permit costs. However, stocking your home with multiple WaterSense and Energy Star products can lead to multiple credits, making the investment potentially more attractive. The rebates will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and will continue until the allocated funds are depleted. Rebate requests must be sent in before June 30, 2026.
