The victim, identified as 39-year-old Javon Carter of St. Louis City, was found by police officers responding to a call for shooting at the intersection of Prange & Genevieve Avenues shortly after 3:15 p.m. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, Carter was discovered lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
