The Surprise City Council appointed Andrea Davis as the new City Manager during its Regular Meeting yesterday, following the resignation of Bob Wingenroth. Davis, who has served as Assistant City Manager, has worked for the city since 2011 and brings 14 years of experience in finance and administration.
According to the City of Surprise’s official press release, Davis holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from Arizona State University and is a Certified Public Accountant. Her previous roles include Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer/Deputy City Manager.
Wingenroth, who served as City Manager for the past four years and from 2014 to 2018, will leave to become City Manager of Laguna Hills, California. His tenure ends on November 30, with Davis set to begin her new role on November 29 to ensure a smooth transition.
The City Manager is one of six positions appointed directly by the City Council, along with the Presiding Judge, Associate Judge, City Attorney, City Clerk, and City Auditor. Davis’s appointment was approved unanimously.
