The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday last week in Memphis. Preliminary reports indicate the incident happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. on the 1700 block of North Germantown Parkway. Federal agents nearby saw a suspect fleeing after an alleged attempted robbery and shooting at a local business, according to Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Newsroom.
Law enforcement officers engaged the suspect, who was shot and is in critical condition. No officers were injured. TBI agents are collecting evidence and conducting interviews to determine what led to the shooting.
The investigation is being conducted independently, and the findings will be provided to 30th Judicial District Attorney General Steve Mulroy, who requested TBI’s involvement. The TBI’s role is to gather facts; decisions on the officers’ actions will be made by the District Attorney General.
As per TBI policy, the agency does not release the names of the officers involved and refers such inquiries to their respective departments. The investigation remains ongoing.
