
Two teenagers were hospitalized after a scary incident unfolded in West Austin on Halloween night. A vehicle lost control and plummeted into a ravine, resulting in a dramatic rescue operation by the Austin-Travis County EMS and fire departments. The accident occurred on Westlake Drive, an area known for winding roads and steep inclines.
Responders were called to 2970 Westlake Drive around 9:26 p.m., following reports of a vehicle mishap. Striving to pull the teens from the wreckage, Austin and Westlake Fire Departments were also on the scene, helping Austin-Travis County EMS navigate the treacherous terrain. Found pinned inside the car, according to CBS Austin, the teens were successfully extricated by 10:40 p.m.
The two teens were transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with injuries reported as non-life-threatening by ATCEMS. KXAN shared further details, noting that there was a third person at the accident scene, who remarkably did not require hospitalization.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. Updates are expected as the authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the accident, which saw the vehicle plunge into the ravine, turning a Halloween night into a memorable one for all the wrong reasons.
