
Deputies responded to a 911 call on November 2, from the Security-Widefield area after a reported assault. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred in the 200 block of Peck Court, where a verbal altercation between roommates escalated into physical violence. The victim was found with head injuries, and the suspect, John Taylor, 39, a deputy with the Teller County Sheriff's Office, was detained.
Upon arrival at the scene, El Paso County Sheriff's deputies were immediately met by the victim. "The reporting party stated a verbal altercation with a roommate had escalated and became physical," as reported by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, with the victim having to hide in a room locked for their safety. Taylor emerged from the residence and was taken into custody without incident to later be processed on charges that included Second-Degree Assault and Domestic Violence.
The aftermath of the altercation saw the victim being treated by medical personnel on-site and then transported to a local hospital. As for Taylor, he was booked into the El Paso County Jail. However, records show that he was released on November 4, 2025, after posting a $10,000 bond.
