A Texas man has been confirmed dead following a severe vehicle accident in Calcasieu Parish. Yesterday, 33-year-old John Acosta of Navasota, Texas, lost his life in a single-vehicle crash along Louisiana Highway 108 near Ron Hall Drive in the early morning hours, according to a report from the Louisiana State Police.
The Louisiana State Police report indicated that Acosta was driving a 2025 GMC Denali pickup when the tragic incident occurred shortly after 2:00 a.m. According to initial findings, the vehicle was headed south on LA Highway 108 and, for reasons that are still being investigated, it did not successfully navigate a curve and veered off the road, colliding with multiple objects.
Authorities confirmed that despite the use of seatbelts, Acosta suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. An extraction of a routine toxicology sample was undertaken for further analysis to ascertain contributing factors to the crash. As the investigation continues, the exact cause remains undetermined.
In a statement reflecting on the somber event, the Louisiana State Police emphasized the importance of safety behind the wheel.
