CBS12 reports that 44-year-old Peter Riera is accused of firing four rounds from a handgun at a trio of individuals he had previously been fraternizing with inside the establishment, citing allegations of a con as the catalyst for the confrontation.
Port St. Lucie Police Department officials detail how Riera, armed and under the influence, let loose a barrage of bullets toward two men and a woman; they managed to escape harm as they dashed away from the scene, the police response then created a significant presence in the Boulevard Shoppes plaza with the area sealed by crime scene tape. While no physical injuries were reported, the emotional toll and disruption stemming from such an event can resonate deeply within the community, the Pandora's box of daylight invulnerability now blown wide open by nocturnal gunfire.
In a drama-laced night, two other individuals found themselves under arrest; 24-year-old Brandon Pace allegedly assaulted officers during his detainment, and 26-year-old Kayla Damiani crossed paths with law enforcement as she reportedly defied an order to stay clear while Pace was apprehended. WPBF detailed that Riera is being held at St. Lucie County Jail without bond – Pace joins him, likewise sans bond, whilst Damiani was released after posting a $500 bond.
