Trader Joe's has spread its roots into Goodyear, giving the residents the gift they've been asking for – right in time for the holiday season. According to City of Goodyear's official news release, hundreds of the store's loyalists lined up early in the morning at the new location on McDowell Road and Bullard Avenue, a testament to the community's anticipation and excitement. The first in line, a mother-and-daughter team, had been waiting since 8 p.m. the previous night - rewarded for their enthusiasm with a tote of Trader Joe's favorites.
Mayor Joe Pizzillo was among the voices celebrating the opening, stating, "Today is a great day for Goodyear," recognizing the consistent appeal of Trader Joe's among the city's population since 2017. Despite the unconventional city-led campaigns like charging a “We Want Trader Joe’s Day” on December 13, 2019, and throwing a birthday bash for the grocery chain, it was the residents' unwavering clamor that ultimately see their wishes fulfilled.
The arrival of Trader Joe's comes as a significant addition to the GSQ and serves as a beacon of continued development in Downtown Goodyear's shopping and dining landscape. According to the official news release, this new establishment is expected to bolster the area's reputation as a destination spot, attracting both locals and visitors to experience what Goodyear has to offer.
The city has actively encouraged this growth, and the new Trader Joe's is projected to contribute significantly to both the job market and the local economy.
