The community in Southeast Portland's Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood is reeling after a shooting claimed the life of 14-year-old Marik Roscoe and left three others injured. According to Portland Police Bureau, the shooting occurred inside a residence on Southeast 125th Avenue near Southeast Division Street on Sunday, morning.
Emergency services transported the victims to area hospitals, where despite efforts to save them, Roscoe succumbed to his injuries. The other gunshot victims, a 17-year-old and a 42-year-old male, along with an injured 19-year-old male, are expected to survive. As the investigation continues, the Portland Police have not made any arrests and they do not believe the shooting was a random act, as reported by the Portland Police Bureau.
The case remains open and ongoing, with the Medical Examiner confirming homicide by gunshot wound as the cause of Roscoe's death. The scene of the shooting was initially closed for investigation but has since reopened. Authorities are reaching out to the public for information.
