During the holiday season in Multnomah County, the TriMet Transit Police Division worked with deputies and officers at the Portland Tree Lighting Ceremony at Pioneer Courthouse Square to ensure public safety and manage the crowds. They coordinated with TriMet’s Customer Safety Supervisors to oversee MAX train operations amid increased holiday foot traffic, as reported by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.
The police also partnered with the Portland Police Bureau to enhance security through visible presence and community engagement. As stated in the social media post, "Our participation in community events strengthens mutual understanding and shared responsibility for safety, helping to create a stronger, safer, and more cohesive community environment," as mentioned by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page, officers will be present at holiday events in Fairview, Corbett, Troutdale, Wood Village, and Maywood Park to provide safety during tree lighting ceremonies and other activities. The announcement ended with the greeting, "Happy holiday season to all!"
