
This morning, a blaze engulfed the Avenue Liquor Store in Redwood City, taking two lives in a harrowing incident that shook the local community. At around 5:30 AM, firefighters rushed to Roosevelt Avenue in response to an alert about the active fire. They were met with an intense situation, as the building was already fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
The Redwood City Fire Department, in an attempt to combat the flames, made a gruesome discovery. "During suppression efforts, firefighters opening the roof observed what appeared to be two individuals inside the structure," the Redwood City Police Department reported. Sadly, the victims showed no signs of life and were pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered severe burns. Their identities have yet to be released.
In an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances leading to the fatalities, authorities, including the Redwood City Police Department and San Mateo County Coroner’s Office, joined forces. According to the announcement posted by the Redwood City Police Department, the store owner has been contacted and is cooperating with the officials.
As investigators sift through the ashes looking for answers, a community awaits, their thoughts with the families and loved ones of those lost to the blaze.
