In a tragic turn of events in South Florida, the lives of two men were claimed in separate incidents involving Brightline trains. According to CBS12, a 26-year-old man was struck and killed Sunday evening in Boynton Beach after police say he ran towards an oncoming train. Boynton Beach police responded to a call at 7 p.m. near NE 6th Avenue and North FEC where the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, East Boynton Beach Boulevard and Federal Highway were temporarily closed to allow detectives to thoroughly conduct their investigation. The preliminary findings suggest the man was running toward the train prior to impact. So far, the reasons behind his actions remain unclear, with investigators staying focused on piecing together the events that led to the fatal collision.
As reported by The Palm Beach Post, in a distressingly similar incident the following day, another man's life was cut short in Broward County when he was struck by a Brightline train. Occurring at approximately 6:30 p.m. on the 300 block of South Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach, this marks another death in a series of crashes involving the high-speed rail service this year.
Brightline operates a rail service that connects downtown Miami with Orlando International Airport, with its tracks intersecting various major roadways in South Florida. The frequency of collisions has been a growing concern throughout 2025, particularly in Palm Beach County where multiple crashes have been recorded.
