Drivers in Rockwall County should brace for roadwork as the Texas Department of Transportation has announced several lane closures on Interstate 30 for bridge and road maintenance. According to an alert published on Rockwall County's official website, motorists can expect various overnight and daytime closures affecting both eastbound and westbound lanes from today through Saturday, November 8.
The scheduled work will commence with the John King East to West U-turn closure and will include overnight closures from 9 PM to 5 AM for bridge activities at John King. Also during this period, the I-30 Eastbound Left Lane from FM 548 to FM 2642 will be impacted due to bridge and earthwork activities at Sabine Creek and FM 35. Residents who regularly traverse these routes should plan to adjust their travel times or seek alternative paths to avoid delays.
Starting tomorrow, further activities will occur during the day, with flagging operations on FM 548 Northbound/Southbound between 9 AM to 3 PM for embankment, removals, and bridge activities at Pond Branch. Similarly, the I-30 Westbound Frontage Road will see flagging operations for the installation of a Low Profile Concrete Barrier from FM 35 to Erby Campbell.
Throughout the week, contractor crews will be working closely to ensure that emergency services are not hindered by the roadworks. They have committed to coordinating with EMS, fire, and police to facilitate access during the closure if emergencies arise. The flagging operation on the I-30 Eastbound Frontage Road from FM 551 to Erby Campbell will certainly require patience from drivers as crews unload drainage boxes and install the concrete barriers.
