Wake Forest residents looking to contribute to a Thanksgiving cause have a chance this Saturday. The Wake Forest Police Department (WFPD) is hosting a Turkey Drive, accepting frozen turkeys at their Police Department Substation located at 225 S. Taylor St. Volunteers from the police force will be on hand from 9 a.m. to noon to collect donations, offering a thanks for the community's generosity and taking charge of the turkeys, ensuring they make their way to those in need.
Monetary contributions are also welcome during this drop-off event, providing an option for individuals who prefer to offer financial support. Donations are coming in to help purchase additional turkeys, and officers are accepting gift cards and checks, with checks made out to the Wake Forest Police Department, as reported on the Town of Wake Forest's official website. To accommodate convenience, the police department also offers an online portal for donations, which will remain active until midnight on the day of the drive.
Just ahead of the holiday, on Monday, the police officers will shift away from their traditional roles to serve in a more communal capacity. The Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry, at 149 E. Holding Ave., will be the site where turkeys are expected to be distributed between 7 and 9:30 a.m. WFPD staff and officers will be there, reaching out directly to the community, putting the spirit of Thanksgiving into action.
