A Washington County jury concluded the trial of 54-year-old Jeffrey Allen Braukmann on November 14, with a guilty verdict on multiple charges of child sexual abuse. As reported by the Washington County District Attorney's Office, Braukmann faced charges of rape in the first degree, unlawful sexual penetration in the first degree, and sexual abuse in the first degree.
The case, prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Rayney Meisel, stems from an incident in August of 2023 where Braukmann sexually assaulted a minor who was visiting family from out of state. According to case details, he threatened the victim with harm to her family if she disclosed the abuse, warning of “major consequences.”
The victim mustered the courage to report the incident in May of 2024, leading to Braukmann's arrest by the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The DA's office expresses its adamant support for the victim, who navigated the complexities of trauma and fears of retaliation in coming forward. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for January 7, 2026, where the repercussions of his actions will be decided.
