The City of Surprise reports that weather delays have pushed back the completion of the 163rd Avenue roadwork, leading to additional disruptions for commuters. Drivers should prepare for detours and lane closures along the stretch from US 60/Grand Avenue to Happy Valley Road, according to the City of Surprise.
Starting on November 24 at 9 a.m., the southbound left lane between Pat Tillman Boulevard and US 60/Grand Avenue will be closed until early November 25. The northbound right lane will also be restricted between US 60/Grand Avenue and Pat Tillman Boulevard, as well as between Asante Boulevard and Happy Valley Road, with both sections expected to reopen on November 25, as reported by the City of Surprise.
The northbound right lane of 163rd Avenue will be closed 24 hours a day from December 1 through December 7 as part of the ongoing improvement project. Additional short nighttime closures for striping are expected in mid-December. Early next year, work will begin on widening the avenue from Happy Valley Road to Jomax Road, as stated by the City of Surprise.
