A violent episode in the early hours of the morning in Winchendon, Massachusetts, led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man following a stabbing incident. According to a social media post by the Town of Winchendon Police Department, police officers responded to a distress call at 5 School St. at 1:00 AM, where they discovered a female victim with a neck wound.
The statement detailed how Officers Dylan Mei and James Maynard found the victim, who was reportedly attacked with a kitchen knife. The suspect, identified as Jack Newbrough of 122 Riverbend St. Athol, MA, was discovered seated inside a locked vehicle in the driveway and began stabbing himself in the neck as the officers approached. The police were able to intervene after breaking a vehicle window and eventually subdued Newbrough using a Taser.
The victim, who is reportedly related to the suspect, suffered grave injuries but was hurried to UMASS Hospital. She is expected to recover fully from the ordeal. Newbrough, on the other hand, sustained superficial self-inflicted injuries and the now facing assault charges. Arrested at the scene, he has been charged with assault and battery with serious bodily injury, and assault to murder.
