In a coordinated effort between the Worcester and Webster Police Departments, a man with numerous open charges, including the possession of firearms without a permit, has been apprehended. The arrest of Mr. Barry Hanson was a response to outstanding warrants linked to allegations of witness intimidation and firearm offenses.
Last Friday, upon request from Worcester Police Gang Unit officers, surveillance was carried out at a Webster apartment on Robinson Street, believed to be Hanson's location. It was Officer Sean Ebbeling who, during his watch, spotted Hanson making a swift getaway in a rental vehicle. Stopped by officers after he hit Main Street, Hanson's bid for freedom came to an abrupt end.
According to a social media post from the Webster Police Department Massachusetts, the arrest took place at about 5:09 pm after he had just entered the vehicle. With an existing criminal record riddled with 11 open charges, Hanson's criminal history was underscored by 7 counts related to illegally possessing firearms as a career criminal and convicted felon, in addition to possession of large capacity firearms.
The police departments involved are reminding the public that despite the severity of the crimes alleged, all suspects, including Mr. Hanson, must be considered innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law. The Worcester Police Department also shared a booking photo of the accused following his arrest.
