Attention Bostonians! It's time to lace up your sneakers and pull out the flags because the 2026 Boston Youth Flag Football League (BYFFL) is officially recruiting teams. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department has spread the word that the city's beloved seasonal pastime is back, setting up camp at Carter Playground Bubble starting January 3. The free co-ed program promises to warmly usher in the New Year with sportsmanship and friendly competition.
The league offers co-ed divisions for 8U, 10U, and 12U, as well as a separate High School Girls division. Sessions run through February 7, ending with playoffs to determine the champions. Interested teams are encouraged to register soon, as spots fill quickly.
According to the official announcement pieces on the City of Boston's website, the league will hold matches every Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to noon. This schedule offers a balanced slice of competition and convenience, enabling families to still fully enjoy their weekends.
Coaches, parents, and guardians can register their teams on the city’s sports website. For more information, contact Woodley Auguste at [email protected] or (617) 961-3084.
Keeping informed about the league and broader park events can be as simple as subscribing to an email list or following along on social media. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department has geared up to keep you updated through various channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and the up-and-coming network Bluesky.
