A serious vehicle collision occurred near 55th Avenue and Camelback Road in Glendale, resulting in a massive blaze and leaving a 21-year-old driver with life-threatening injuries. According to reports from ABC15, the crash happened at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday when the man's car, speeding, collided with an unoccupied service truck that was stationed at a bus stop with its worker nearby.
The impact led both vehicles to catch fire, prompting emergency services to rush to the scene. The driver was subsequently transported to a hospital to undergo surgery. Despite the clear markings, lights, and traffic cones set out to alert passersby about the service truck, the driver apparently did not heed these warnings, leading to the catastrophic event. Glendale Police are still investigating the incident as of now, with Camelback Road remaining closed between 55th and 53rd avenues to facilitate their inquiries.
As details emerge from 12News, it has been noted that the young driver is currently in the hospital receiving critical care. The service truck was actively engaged in maintenance of a local bus stop when the collision occurred, yet no workers were injured as none were in the vehicle at the time.
