In a tragic turn of events, a single-vehicle crash in St. Louis City claimed the life of a woman and left another injured. According to a report by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Brionna Brooks. The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when officers responded to the scene of a collision at the intersection of N Leffingwell Ave and Franklin Ave.
Upon arrival, they discovered an overturned gray Kia K5. Struck by a boulder before flipping, one woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was swiftly conveyed to the hospital, reported to be in stable condition afterward. The officers first on the scene were unable to immediately determine who was behind the wheel during the crash.
The Police Department's Accident Reconstruction Investigators have since clarified the circumstances leading up to the tragedy. They revealed that the Kia was eastbound on Franklin Ave, approaching a T-intersection at N Leffingwell Ave. Instead of executing a turn, the car continued straight, made impact with a boulder, and rolled over, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
The investigation into this fatal event continues, with the factors contributing to the loss of control over the vehicle remaining under scrutiny. While it was initially unclear who drove, it has now been confirmed by investigators that Brooks was at the wheel at the time of the accident. The identity of the injured party, as well as her current condition, has been kept private pending further notice.
