An 82-year-old woman, Mattie Crockett, has been charged with the murder of her boyfriend in Tunica County, Mississippi. The incident, which saw the fatal shooting of 75-year-old James Larry Jr., occurred on Tuesday. FOX13 Memphis reported that Crockett called 911 to alert authorities that she had shot her boyfriend.
The Tunica County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene at a home on Tibbs Road around 3:15 p.m., where they discovered Larry with a deadly wound, which was later pronounced by the Tunica County Coroner. Having sustained undisclosed injuries, Crockett was taken to the hospital, after deputies made contact with her according to Action News 5. She was released subsequently and taken into custody.
Crockett faced a judge yesterday for her bond hearing and was issued a $100,000 bond. Held at the county jail, details of Crockett's arrest were filled in by WREG, confirming the ongoing nature of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
