Acworth City Council put the spotlight on a familiar face in the community last Thursday, honoring Connie Smith for her unswerving commitment to the city's fiscal health. An accountant who has crunched numbers for the City of Acworth Finance Department for a quarter of a century, Smith was recognized for her expertise and dedication during the December 4 council meeting.
City Manager James Albright spotlighted Smith's contributions, which encompass project accounting, vendor management, bank reconciliation, payroll, and a myriad of other financial tasks. In a statement obtained by City of Acworth website, Albright praised Smith’s work ethic, saying, Connie "has supported the City in numerous ways.” Her meticulous attention to the city's finances during her 25-year tenure earned the respect and gratitude not just of colleagues but also the community at large.
Smith, whose tenure with the City of Acworth Finance Department is a testament to her steadfastness and dependability, joined the department back when financial ledgers were more likely kept in binders than bytes. Transitioning through the years as technology evolved, Smith's adaptability and continuous learning showcase the human element in the often impersonal world of numbers and ledgers.
