As temperatures drop, Atlanta is opening two warming centers to help protect vulnerable residents. The City of Atlanta says the facilities will provide a warm, safe place for individuals and families during the expected freezing conditions.
The warming centers will open on Wednesday at 8 p.m. and remain available until Today at 6 a.m., according to the City of Atlanta. Transportation will be provided each night at 8 p.m. from the Gateway Center, with Fulton County offering return transportation once the centers close.
The Central Park Recreation Center (400 Merritts Ave. NE) and the Old Adamsville Recreation Center (3404 Delmar Ln NW) will serve as Atlanta’s warming centers. The city selected these locations to provide accessible shelter options across different areas.
City officials noted that activation times for the warming centers may change based on updated National Weather Service forecasts.
