Seven months after opening in Detroit's Core City neighborhood, Bev's Bagels is planning to expand. Owner and chef Max Sussman said the bagel shop will open a new location in Ann Arbor in 2026. He added, "Expanding in Detroit will let us serve our customers faster and better, and will help build Bev’s into a true third space for the neighborhood, where people can come and just hang out and enjoy some good food in a more comfortable space," as per WXYZ.
Bev’s Bagels is expanding its Detroit location by taking over the adjacent bay, doubling its size, and adding a specialty breads program, more pastries, and extra seating, expected to be finished by spring 2026. The company will also open a 1,500-square-foot location in Ann Arbor at 115 E. Liberty St., with owner Max Sussman saying, "Ann Arbor is where everything began for me, so there’s a real sense of coming full circle," according to Metro Times. The Ann Arbor site will include green energy and more electric cooking as part of its design.
Bev's Bagels offers traditional and creative bagels, a range of cream cheese flavors, and sandwiches with ingredients like lox, fried chicken, and pastrami. At its Core City location, the Community Sandwich Project lets customers pre-purchase a sandwich for someone in need. Owner Max Sussman said, "What we want now is to make sure people know these are available to be redeemed, no questions asked," as reported by Axios. With plans to open a new Ann Arbor location in 2026, Bev's Bagels will bring more seating, breads, and bagels to both Detroit and Ann Arbor residents.
