Bloomington’s holiday season is getting a boost this year with the return of a long-standing tradition. After a decade without lights, the large oak tree on Meadowview Road is illuminated once again, serving as a seasonal centerpiece for the neighborhood. According to a social media post from the Bloomington Police Department, MN, the tree lighting is an eagerly anticipated comeback, clearly visible to commuters and travelers from the highway and the skies above.
The tree, which had been a celebrated fixture during the holidays, had gone unlit for more than 10 years. This year, the tradition returned after the local Hemenway family stepped in to relight it. They went on to express their gratitude, "A huge thank-you to the Hemenway’s for bringing this beloved tradition back after 10 years. We love this tree! It’s like Bloomington’s holiday card to the world," the Bloomington Police Department, MN, stated.
