Brooke Brown has been named Citizen of the Month by the City of Lawton, recognized at the December 9 Council Meeting for her dedication to veterans and her positive impact on the Lawton-Fort Sill community. Her nonprofit, Grandeur of Grace, has functioned as a beacon for struggling veterans since its inception in 2019, and was designated a 501(c)(3) in 2021. The services provided by Brown and her organization range from housing and transportation assistance to VA benefits navigation, touching the lives of over 100 veterans and their respective families. In a statement obtained by the City of Lawton, Brown's impact on the community is clearly outlined, showing her deep commitment and a decade-long dedication to those who served.
At the core of her veteran outreach is the Brothers Program, which aims to support justice-involved and homeless veterans. This initiative strives to slowly build connections and establish a space of accountability and brotherhood. Every weekend, by opening up her own home, Brown fosters a setting where veterans can find both a meal and community—a dual fulfillment of basic needs and societal belonging. Her unwavering service extends into her professional life where she works with Work Ready Lawton and leads as Chair of the Outreach Committee of the Lawton Housing Task Force.
