
A 61-year-old Carlisle man, Oscar McCammon, was arrested on Tuesday following a search warrant executed at his residence. Indiana State Police and Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies discovered an array of drugs and firearms. As reported by WISH-TV, the seized items included 92 grams of methamphetamine, a pound of marijuana, a hypodermic syringe, six prescription pills classified as a legend drug, 15 firearms, cash, and drug paraphernalia.
Authorities initially went to McCammon's home to serve an active arrest warrant for possession of methamphetamine. During the arrest process, officials suspected further illicit activities occurring within the domicile, swiftly moving to obtain a search warrant. Lieutenant David Cox, Putnamville District Commander, commended his officers by stating, "Officers went beyond just executing an arrest warrant and took drugs and guns out of Sullivan County, making it a safer community," according to a statement obtained by MyWabashValley.com.
McCammon now faces a slew of charges, including dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, violent felon in possession of a firearm, dealing a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of a legend drug, and possession of synthetic urine. He has been preliminarily charged with seven felonies and one misdemeanor. In an effort to further combat the drug problem, officials urge the community to report any information regarding illegal drug activities confidentially, stating that such information "could save a life," as mentioned by MyWabashValley.com.
The investigation team comprised of Troopers Chandler Stanton, Hunter Givens, and Cameron Goodman of the Putnamville State Police Post, along with Deputy David Knight of the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, were integral in conducting the investigative work leading up to McCammon's arrest.
