The Port of San Diego has announced a partnership with Carnival Cruise Line for the 2026 Big Bay Boom, San Diego's premier Independence Day fireworks display. As the official cruise line sponsor, Carnival will contribute to promoting the event and will be featured prominently throughout the festivities. "We are excited to have Carnival join us for the 2026 Big Bay Boom and to have their support in commemorating this milestone Independence Day," Chair Danielle Moore of the Board of Port Commissioners said, as per the Port of San Diego.
The collaboration marks an engagement that is both celebratory and reflective, set against the backdrop of San Diego Bay. Carnival Cruise Line's guests aboard the Carnival Radiance, Carnival Firenze, and Carnival Luminosa will have the unique experience of viewing the fireworks from the bay. They will be part of the nearly half a million spectators that typically gather along the waterfront and in various parts of the city to take in the spectacle. Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, expressed her enthusiasm in an official statement, as per the Port of San Diego: "We're honored to be part of such a historic milestone and iconic event in San Diego."
In addition, the 2026 celebration is coinciding with the honoring of military service members and the country's 250th anniversary. The event's association with Carnival Cruise Line emphasizes a communal spirit, aligning with previous announcements that the San Diego Fleet Week Foundation is the official non-profit partner assisting in the Big Bay Boom's fundraising efforts. This event, largely funded through charitable donations from organizations, small businesses, corporations, and individuals, is expected to resonate with the patriotic spirit that underlies the Fourth of July.
