The City of Casa Grande is currently welcoming applications for its 2026 Resident Leadership Academy, a nine-week program created to equip residents with a deeper understanding of local government operations. According to the city's announcement, the free academy is designed to offer an insight into the various services that support daily life in Casa Grande, with a view to fostering greater community involvement.

With sessions scheduled every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., starting February 4, 2026, participants will engage in presentations and tours guided by the city's department directors and staff. Since its inception in 2003, the program has been aiding residents to better comprehend their community's machinations. An additional session on March 4 is scheduled that includes the annual State of the City address.

Mayor Lisa Navarro-Fitzgibbons underlined the value of the initiative, stating, "This program is a wonderful opportunity for both new and long-time residents." The Leadership Academy is open to Casa Grande residents aged 18 or older. Interested participants must submit their applications by January 2, 2026. According to a recent press release, selected participants will be informed of their acceptance on January 6 and must confirm their commitment by Friday, January 9.

Arizona Public Service (APS) has been a consistent supporter of the academy, with APS Public Affairs Manager for the Southeast, Richard Rosales, commenting, "It’s an honor to support Casa Grande residents as they learn about their city and gain valuable tools to become more engaged." Many former participants have carved paths in public service by volunteering with local nonprofits or serving on city boards, commissions, and committees post-graduation.

Space in the academy is limited; thus, early applications are recommended. For more information on the full schedule or to apply, prospective candidates could reach out to the Public Information Office at (520) 421-8600 or via email.
