Milwaukee residents, mark your calendars for a blend of history and celebration this coming weekend. Alderman Scott Spiker has extended an open invitation to the community for the Tippe Tenth Anniversary Celebration, taking place on Saturday, December 6. According to the City of Milwaukee, the event will honor both the decade since the Tippecanoe Library's renovation and its 56 years of service to the public. Festivities are set from 1 – 4 p.m. at the local staple of the 13th District, located at 3912 S. Howell Ave.
The afternoon will offer a nostalgic journey as the exhibition showcases historical photographs and memorabilia important to the branch. Visitors can revisit the past with recommended books, music, and films from 1969 and 2015. The event also includes a craft activity for both children and adults, accompanied by classic tunes in the community room. To cap off the celebration, attendees can enjoy a birthday cake as part of the anniversary festivities. Reflecting the spirit of community celebration, Alderman Spiker said in the City of Milwaukee, "The Tippecanoe Library is a beautiful public space in the heart of the 13th District, and this anniversary celebration is the perfect chance for community members to reacquaint themselves with the library and all it has to offer."
With an agenda packed with activities that celebrate the past while embracing the community's present, the Tippecanoe Library's anniversary event is shaping up to be a family-friendly outing. It offers an opportunity not just to reflect on the library's sustained role in the community but to partake in activities that bridge generations. No registration or fees are necessary, as the event is free and open to the public, as mentioned in the same news release.
