The Ceres Police Department received a $60,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to enhance traffic enforcement programs through September 2026. “We are grateful to receive this grant, which will strengthen our traffic enforcement efforts and improve road safety,” said Traffic Sergeant Bryan Ferreira, as reported by the Ceres Police Department.

The funding will support DUI checkpoints, increased patrols, and crackdowns on distracted driving, including violations of California’s hands-free cell phone law. Enforcement will also focus on high-risk areas for cyclists and pedestrians, targeting speeding, failing to yield, and other common traffic violations, as stated by the Ceres Police Department.

The Ceres Police Department received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, to improve traffic safety. According to the Ceres Police Department on their Facebook page, the funding will support community education on distracted and impaired driving, speeding, and the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians. It will also provide training for officers in Standard Field Sobriety Tests, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, and Drug Recognition Expert certifications, and promote collaboration with nearby law enforcement agencies. "Through a combination of education and enforcement efforts, our goal is to reduce dangerous driving behaviors, prevent crashes, and make our roads safer for everyone," Ferreira said.
