
A tragic incident unfolded on Christmas Day at a Whitehaven apartment complex, culminating in the death of one man and the detention of five suspects. According to Action News 5, Memphis Police responded to a shooting at Blueberry Hill at the Winchester Grove Apartments after 4 p.m. They arrived to witness a suspect vehicle departing the scene, leading to a pursuit that ended with the five individuals abandoning their car and fleeing on foot near Gill and Elvis Presley Boulevard.
The chase didn't last long, as the police managed to detain all five suspects shortly after, bailed, and ran from the car about four miles north. Following the incident, a heavy law enforcement presence, along with uniformed members of the National Guard, was reported at the complex by Action News 5. Meanwhile, at approximately 4:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to a local hospital upon the arrival of a gunshot victim, who, according to police, was pronounced dead shortly after and had been linked to the earlier shooting.
FOX13 Memphis details that the victim had been transported to the hospital by private vehicle, succumbing to his wounds and later declared deceased. The Memphis Police Department confirmed that the man had been involved in the Whitehaven apartment complex shooting.
The Memphis Police's ongoing investigation into the incident has not revealed any motives or the names of the individuals involved yet. Departing the area of Gill and Elvis Presley Boulevard, the suspects' vehicle was seen by officers, as stated by WREG News. Officers then detained the five suspects who had fled the vehicle.
