An unsettling crime has unfolded in the Evanston neighborhood, where a man was accused of the murder of a 36-year-old woman. Cincinnati police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Hewitt Avenue, where they pronounced LaKeisha Malone dead at the scene from an undisclosed injury. Malone's life was taken allegedly using a "homemade wooden club" at the hands of 40-year-old Andre Redmond, as reported by WLWT.
Redmond is said to have committed the act while Malone was asleep and while children were present in the home, potentially adding a traumatic dimension to this already heartbreaking incident. FOX19 reports that Redmond faces both a murder charge and additional charges of operating while impaired and failure to maintain reasonable control. He was given a $2 million bond during his initial court appearance, according to court documents.
Details on the motive and the relationship between Malone and Redmond have not been disclosed, however, Redmond is purported to live at the residence where Malone's body was found. Police have not revealed how the suspect and the victim may have known each other, but court papers confirm Redmond's residence at the crime scene, as indicated by LOCAL12.
The Cincinnati police's homicide unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Malone, asking anyone with information to come forward. Redmond is currently held at the Hamilton County Justice Center, with arraignment proceedings having already taken place. Anyone with potentially relevant information is encouraged to contact the police at (513) 352-3542, a detailed initial report to WLWT.
