Mark your calendars for the upcoming dedication ceremony of Clermont County's newly expanded Juvenile Court on December 12. According to an official announcement on Clermont County's website, the event is set to commence at noon at 2340 Clermont Center Drive in Batavia and is open to all interested parties looking to witness the improvements made to the county's juvenile justice system.
The courthouse addition boasts an impressive 29,000 square feet of new space, including, not limited to, five state-of-the-art courtrooms and separate offices for the Juvenile Clerk, Juvenile Probation Department, Prosecutor, and Public Defender - it represents a structural commitment to addressing the needs of troubled youth in a manner that acknowledges their potential for rehabilitation and their unique requirements.
Following the formal dedication, Judge James A. Shriver will play host to a reception where attendees will be treated to light refreshments, providing an opportunity for the public to engage with court officials and take in the new surroundings. This commitment to community engagement and transparency echoes through the open invitation extended to the general public.
Among the functional improvements is a single public entry with a security checkpoint that serves both the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts, streamlining operations and enhancing security protocols within the previously bifurcated infrastructure; the facility now totals 40,000 square feet and includes a connector to the Detention Center, embodying the county's integrated vision for its corrections and judicial services.
Renowned for their architectural innovation, MSA Design, led by Nestor Melnyk, delivered the design for the project - ensuring the expansion not only met the operational demands of the court but also represented a beacon of Clermont County's investment in its youth and future. On the construction front, Florence, Ky.-based Mark Spaulding Construction Co. spearheaded the physical realization of the architectural vision, bringing the blueprints to life with precision and professionalism.
