Clinton police have arrested two suspects accused of carrying out a series of holiday-season porch thefts, highlighting ongoing concerns about package security. In an update that's one part community triumph, one part police procedural, the Clinton Police Department took to social media, announcing the capture of Michael Morgan and Shawna Bowman. "Thanks to the tenacious invesigative efforts by Officer Jessica Daugherty and our incredible citizens, Michael Morgan and Shawna Bowman have been identified and captured for the theft of many packages across several jurisdictions!"
The Clinton Police Department said in a recent post that community cooperation played a key role in the investigation, offering both a warning and practical reminder to would-be thieves. Despite the growing presence of home surveillance systems, suspects Morgan and Bowman continued their alleged string of thefts until digital evidence—combined with assistance from the Oak Ridge Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office—led to their arrest. The department also highlighted the work of Officer Jessica Daugherty, whose persistence was instrumental in bringing the case to a close.
The department's social media missive ends on an admonitory note to future "porch pirates in training," stressing that the odds are ever more so against them.
