The Cobb Library Foundation, aimed at financially empowering the Cobb County Public Library through innovative means, has launched a new venture known as The Cobb Library Shop, an online merchandise store. As detailed by a recent announcement on the Cobb County government's official news page, this initiative seeks to create a sustainable funding source for the library's outreach and marketing.
It's a forward-thinking approach, one that looks to not only generate revenue but also to firmly establish the library's brand within the community. In a statement obtained by the county's news page, Slone Williams, the Community and User Engagement Division Manager for the library, expressed excitement about the project which began with an initial under $700 investment, hinting to permanently transform this vision into a reality.
Sandra Morris, the Executive Director of the Cobb Library Foundation, emphasized the project's focus on community improvement. "This project reflects the Cobb Library Foundation’s commitment to investing in innovative partnerships that strengthen the library and our community," she told the county's news page. Revenue from the shop sales is earmarked to directly support the Foundation's initiatives to increase the library's profile and drive community involvement.
Highlighting the dual role of the store, Williams further emphasized the project's broad-reaching impact: "With over 400,000 active library card holders, our community’s passion for the library is undeniable. What started as a passion project has blossomed into a dynamic platform that goes far beyond merchandise sales. We are building a vital bridge between the library and our community... The shop represents a bold, innovative marketing channel that amplifies our brand and extends our reach like never before," according to the county's news page. The Cobb Library Shop kicks off with six collections showcasing themed items ranging from holiday gifts to apparel adorned with library mascots Dewey Decimal and Rita Book.
The collections, which include 'Library Holiday Market,' 'Once Upon a Fam,’ 'Bookmobile Buddies,' 'Librarian Said What?!,' 'Legacy: Unleashed,' and 'The Legacy Collection,' feature a variety of products that blend bookish charm with local flair and modern design aesthetics.
