Coral Springs Commissioner Joshua Simmons is stepping into the national spotlight with a new role as Chair of the National League of Cities (NLC) 2026 Transportation and Infrastructure Services (TIS) Federal Advocacy Committee. Selected for a one-year term, Simmons is tasked with steering the NLC's federal advocacy agenda and shaping policy priorities that underpin the transportation frameworks servicing communities large and small. "I am honored to serve as Chair of the Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee and to represent Coral Springs and communities across the country," Simmons said as per the City of Coral Springs website, noting his commitment to advocating for improved and innovative transport solutions.

At its annual City Summit held in Salt Lake City, the appointment was made, recognizing Simmons' contributions and entrusting him with the imperative role of advocating for America's urban landscapes before Congress, within the Administration, and throughout his own municipal stomping grounds of Coral Springs, Florida. According to the NLC President Kevin Kramer from Louisville, Kentucky, announced recently the appointment, under his guidance, Simmons will help strengthen the crucial local–federal relationship.

The NLC's federal advocacy committees operate as the voices of the United States' 19,000 cities, towns, and villages, directly influencing the federal policies that impact local governments and the communities they serve. Commissioner Simmons' leadership role as Chair will place him at the helm of the Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee, instrumental in forging NLC's transportation policy and federal advocacy priorities.

Acting as NLC President, Kevin Kramer, a Councilmember from Louisville, Kentucky, expressed eagerness to support Simmons' vision. "The National League of Cities’ federal advocacy committees are the voice of America’s 19,000 cities, towns and villages to leaders in Washington," said Kramer on the City of Coral Springs.
