Residents of Allegheny County, specifically within Crescent Township, were put on high alert after a bear sighting was reported in the area. According to information from WPXI, the Crescent Township Police Department alerted the community yesterday, emphasizing the need for residents to be vigilant about their surroundings and the safety of their pets.
The police department has advised the public not to approach the bear and to call 911 from a safe distance if the animal appears aggressive or presents an immediate threat, although bears are typically more afraid of humans than we are of them.
In a corresponding report from WTAE, the police department also mentioned that although bears generally avoid human contact, the safety of both residents and their pets must avoid any attempts to approach or interact with the animal.
