
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is on the lookout for a suspect following an armed robbery at a Crossville convenience store last Saturday night. According to WATE, deputies were called to Proffitt’s Market on Pomona Road around 9 p.m. where a man brandishing a "large machete" had entered the store and demanded money. The man covered his identity with a black mask and was further described wearing, a black winter coat, gloves, and jeans.
The suspect managed to flee on foot toward the area behind the store. Efforts to find him that night included deploying K-9 units and a drone but were ultimately unsuccessful. In a statement obtained by WVLT, the CCSO confirmed that despite the initial search efforts, the suspect remains at large and the investigation is considered "active and ongoing."
Moreover, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has taken the additional step of releasing images of the suspect. As per 3B Media News, the photos were distributed in hopes that members of the public might recognize the individual and provide details that could contribute to his apprehension. The images showcase the suspect in the aforementioned black attire, wielding the weapon used during the robbery.
Authorities have issued a call for information from anyone who might have insights into the robbery or the suspect's whereabouts.
