A two-vehicle crash on Kuykendahl Road in north Harris County turned deadly Tuesday, shutting down the busy corridor just north of FM 1960 and sending traffic spilling into nearby neighborhoods.
The collision happened in the 16500 block of Kuykendahl Road near Micliff Boulevard, where deputies closed the roadway in both directions while first responders worked the scene. Traffic stacked up as emergency crews and investigators moved through the wreckage and documented the crash.
The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office released a photo from the scene, and Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman told reporters that one of the drivers later died at a hospital, according to Click2Houston. Authorities had not publicly identified anyone involved as of the station's report, and the investigation remained active.
Drivers in the area were urged to expect delays and use alternate routes while crews worked to clear the debris and reopen the road.
The Kuykendahl stretch near FM 1960 has been no stranger to trouble this year. In September, deputies responded to another wreck that ended with a DWI and weapon charge after they arrived on the scene. Local deputies frequently share traffic and arrest updates from this corridor, and residents say backups at the FM 1960 and Kuykendahl junction are a routine headache during peak hours.

Authorities asked drivers to steer clear of the crash zone while first responders and crash investigators finished their work, according to Click2Houston. Precinct 4 deputies and crash investigators are leading the probe, and no cause or potential charges have been released at the time of the report.
