This series of fires, a surge concentrated in metro Atlanta and hitting DeKalb County with pronounced intensity, included a devastating fire on Monday afternoon that tragically ended the life of 21-year-old Izaiah Taylor, a college football player, at his grandfather's residence on Rockcliff Court. Taylor was visiting for the holidays when the incident took place. This string of incidents has prompted DeKalb County firefighters to issue warnings about the heightened risk of fires.
A few days prior to this string of blazes, a separate house fire on Flakes Mill Road displaced another family. The midnight fire erupted and spread rapidly from the basement into the attic as described by FOX 5 Atlanta. Crews responded swiftly, and the family managed to evacuate without harm.
